Materials Needed:

Step 1

Heat water in a pot. Once the water is starting to heat up, add some salt (about 1 tbsp) and a few drops of oil to the hot water.

Step 2

Add food coloring of choice to the water and add in the spaghetti. Cook according to the instructions on the pasta box.

I recently invested in this gel food coloring that is a little more on the pricey side, but it’s super pigmented so it made our rainbow spaghetti very vibrant and pretty!

That’s it!

It’s honestly as simple as that! It does take a bit of time, since the water has to boil and the noodles have to cook. So definitely take that into consideration.

We did NOT have any problems with the noodles dying our hands or clothes. And it was so much fun!

Lunar New Year Sensory Bin Activity

You can make all the colors of the rainbow and create a rainbow themed sensory bin, or you can pick and choose colors inspired by different holidays or themes.

I recently made a Lunar New Year inspired colored spaghetti sensory bin, and gave my son some scissors, tongs, and tweezers to encourage fine motor skills as well.

Both my boys loved that sensory bin! My 2 year-old really loved using the different tools and practicing his scissor skills which he has been really into these days.
